Ballet group in Ulm – who we are

Since 1998 the University Ballet Ulm has brought dance enthusiasts together, whether students, university staff or ballet lovers from the city. Everyone who enjoys classical ballet is welcome. From beginners to advanced dancers we value a warm atmosphere, artistic development and the shared experience of dance and music.

Our instructor Dr. med. Kay Astrid Weithöner brings decades of ballet practice and a ballet pedagogy degree from Paris. Together with dedicated members we keep the group alive and the semester fees fair.

Training & schedule

Ballet training during the lecture-free period

Time
Mondays 20:30–22:00
Location
Gymnastics room, University of Ulm

Our training starts with roughly 30 minutes of warm-up on the mat, inspired by Pilates and yoga, including planks, fascia rollers and balls (all available on site). Classical exercises at the barre and in the room follow.

Each session adapts to the fitness level of the participants, with the goal of working hard and being proud of what you achieve. Together our friendly group finds the balance between discipline and the sheer joy of dancing.

Frequently asked questions about our ballet training

Do I need previous experience for the ballet training?

No, you can join at any time. We begin with a shared warm-up, and the instructor offers combinations suited to different experience levels.

Are there opportunities to perform?

Once a year we present pieces at the university Musischer Tag and selected campus events. Participation is optional, and you are just as welcome if you prefer the weekly classes.

Does training also take place during the semester break?

Yes, we train all year round, including during the lecture-free period. The time may vary slightly during the holidays, but we continue to meet on Mondays.

Is there a dress code?

No, wear whatever feels comfortable: leggings, a T-shirt or workout gear. Ballet slippers or socks are perfectly fine.

How does the trial session work?

Send a quick email to the instructor, bring comfortable clothes and socks, and join us on Monday 20:30–22:00 in the gymnastics hall of the University of Ulm. After the trial you can decide whether to train with us regularly.
